What is your current position/job title?

Staff Assistant to the U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs

Please provide a brief overview of what you have done academically and/or professionally since graduating from the MAEUS program.

Since completing my MAEUS degree, I have worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency, for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, and at the U.S. State Department. Just before my current position, I worked for the State Department's office of European Union Affairs.

How has the MAEUS program helped you in your current career?

My MAEUS degree laid a strong foundation I leveraged to be successful working on U.S.-EU affairs and engagement. Being able to understand and explain the intricacies of the EU set me apart from my colleagues.

Do you have any advice or suggestions for current students in the MAEUS program?

Build your networks, seek out internships and other professionally broadening opportunities, and reach out to alumni in fields you wish to pursue.

Do you have any additional thoughts you would like to share on the MAEUS program or your time at Illinois?

Take advantage of visiting scholars and lecture series. Become involved and use this time to discover new passions.
